Hospitals are shifting their resources to prioritize treatment of Coronavirus cases, and are unable to schedule surgery.  The US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) recently proposed shifting required surgery to Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) to decrease patient exposure to hospitals and emergency rooms. Ambulatory Surgery Centers provide a superior alternative to surgical patients as they do not treat Coronavirus patients, and are safer due to rigorous screening, much lower numbers of patients, and minimal exposure.
