Get Diagnosed: Endometriosis Awareness Month

2017 Endometriosis Awareness Month

Early Detection, Intervention Can Minimize Damage

During Endometriosis Awareness Month, we want to take a moment to encourage women who experience intense menstrual pain to get evaluated early by a GYN specialist.

Women who suffer from endometriosis have a special bond with each other. This is a disease that can cause severe pain, and for now, has no cure. For many women, the only solution to end the pain is a hysterectomy, and no physician will recommend that option lightly. Every case is unique and early detection and treatment by a highly trained specialist can prevent years of unnecessary pain.

During Endometriosis Awareness Month, The Center for Innovative GYN Care will be providing women with tools to help ask better questions of their gynecologists, provide links to support groups, and updates from endometriosis research groups who are focused on finding a cure.

CIGC Patient Advocates

After successful treatment at CIGC for endometriosis, our patients often go on to become advocates, encouraging others to find the best specialists. Their experience with our surgeons Dr. Paul MacKoulDr. Natalya Danilyants, and Dr. Rupen Baxi builds awareness of our advanced minimally invasive solutions that help women recover from surgery in days, and find relief from the pain almost immediately. By sharing with others through online support groups or at events like EndoMarch, women who find answers at CIGC for what can be a debilitating condition, go on to help other women find the support they need.

Endometriosis Awareness: The Importance of Sharing Your Experience

Whether you are suffering from endometriosis, fibroidsadenomyosisabnormal bleedingpelvic pain or are beginning menopause, hearing from other women who have shared the same experience can build confidence to seek the right specialist. If you have suffered for years with unsuccessful treatments, you can easily get disillusioned into thinking you have to live with the pain. Encouragement from others who have lived through it and come out the other side can instill hope.

Endometriosis awareness monthIt’s always better to seek a specialist from the beginning, but without knowledge of available procedures, women often turn to their OB/GYN for advice. Even with a focus on women’s health, these highly skilled physicians aren’t performing GYN surgeries to the extent that a GYN surgical specialist does. Many of CIGC patients who have suffered from endometriosis, have found that previous treatments with other providers actually made their endometriosis worse. Depending on the procedure used, and the extent of a woman’s condition, getting the right treatment early by a GYN specialist can reduce the risk of recurrence.
