The Fibroids Project is hosting a phone event on fibroids, fertility and minimally invasive fibroid removal Tuesday, November 3rd from 7 PM to 8 PM EST.
Dr. Natalya Danilyants, MD, co-founder of The Center for Innovative GYN Care (CIGC) will discuss two minimally invasive fibroid removal techniques developed by the specialists at CIGC: LAAM, an innovative minimally invasive uterine sparing fibroid removal technique, and DualPortGYN, a technique used to perform minimally invasive hysterectomies, resection of pelvic adhesions, ovarian cysts, pelvic masses and endometriosis excision using only 2 tiny incisions.
It is estimated that more than 80 percent of women have fibroids by age 50. Many women show no symptoms, while others have to arrange their lives around their menstrual cycles due to the unpredictability of abnormal or heavy bleeding, extreme pelvic pain or bloating, and irregular bowel movements or urination. The impact fibroids can have on fertility can also be life changing.
When it comes to surgically removing large fibroids, often women are told they must have a hysterectomy or a large open incision for a myomectomy, that may have to convert to a hysterectomy. For women wishing to have children, this can be devastating.
The surgeons at The Center for Innovative GYN Care developed these procedures to help women have a better recovery from surgery for fibroids of all sizes and all locations. The minimally invasive GYN specialists work with women to understand their concerns so that the best procedure can be performed for her individual needs, and future plans.
