Meet Michelle Bogdanovich-Davis, DualPortGYN Webinar Featured Guest

A Safer Hysterectomy: DualPortGYN, Webinar, May 18th at 8:00 PM

GUEST PATIENT, MICHELLE BOGDANOVICH-DAVIS

DualPortGYN webinarMichelle Bogdanovich-Davis (Alexandria, VA) suffered for over three years. Three different doctors couldn’t diagnose her. It was important for Michelle to be able to tell her story. At the end of that three years, she felt like she was dying. It was then that she heard about The Center for Innovative GYN Care on the radio, and finally decided she needed to see a specialist.

On Wednesday, May 18th at 8:00 PM, Michelle will join Dr. Paul MacKoul, MD and Dr. Natalya Danilyants, MD for a webinar on DualPortGYN minimally invasive hysterectomy. Michelle had a very complex condition, and the hysterectomy with Dr. MacKoul was only part of the surgery performed. She will also discuss the endometriosis and pelvic adhesions that caused her organs to be fused together, which caused her uterus to be fused to her bowel.

After meeting with Dr. Paul MacKoul, MD, he knew immediately what was wrong. In addition to performing the laparoscopic hysterectomy and endometriosis excision, Michelle’s bowel needed to be repaired with an enterolysis procedure. Using DualPortGYN, a technique developed by the minimally invasive surgeons at CIGC, Dr. MacKoul was able to do these very complex procedures with two tiny incisions.

“Many OB/GYNs are not trained in minimally invasive procedures, and even fewer have experience or training to perform a bowel repair, requiring another surgeon to perform additional surgery,” said Dr. MacKoul. “Our minimally invasive GYN specialists are able to perform additional surgeries to repair bowel, bladder or ureter that are often affected by endometriosis, or pelvic adhesions from trauma or previous surgeries. This is an important part of what we do.

“You have to take your healthcare into your own hands,” said Michelle. “When you struggle through multiple doctors and can’t find any answers, it’s important to find a specialist.”
